The Billing staff has over 125 years of combined healthcare experience. The department has 4 billing representatives who have a vast knowledge of insurance which includes Medicare, Medicaid, Wellmark and Commercial/PPO plans, Worker’s comp, liability claims, and much more. Each biller ensures the claims are clean and accurate prior to submission to the plans thus decreasing the likelihood of a denial. They also follow up on unpaid claims and appeal any denials. Our cashier posts all payments coming into the hospital and ensures accuracy and timeliness of this process. The charge report coordinator assists departments with charge corrections and manually enters many patient charges as well as running various reports. The scanning clerk scans all business documents related to the revenue cycle into the system for future reference as well as assists with provider credentialing with the payers. Our two financial counselors assist patients with a variety of payment options, financial assistance programs, total charge estimates and help them understand their insurance plans and benefits. The director completes credentialing applications for various payers for billing, keeps the charge or item master up to date, and reviews reimbursement based on payer contracts. The billing team works with every department in the facility on improving the revenue cycle to ensure correct payment as well as a smooth patient experience. The billing department hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
